home sweet home

I'm finally home. Nauseous, but home. Dr Fewell saw the MRI's and knew he'd be out of town this weekend, so he talked with dr. O'Grady. He saw me right away. Said we had to do surgery right then. So, surgery was done - back of my tailbone removed. Released the nerves. Said if he'd left them any much longer and they would have been paralyzed. While he was there, he saw the mass of tumor through the nerves. He got most of it out. It's only from one spot, but it's one spot less that the chemo and radiation will have to get to.

I'm pretty sore now, though. At the hospital I looked at myself in the mirror and realized what a mess I was in. And then it came..... at least I didn't feel like this AND had a squirming newborn to add to it! Wo to women everywhere who go through this kinda pain and then have to care for a child, too.....

Hey I have question for you this is Rochelle Bassett (Schultz). Did your numbers go up is that why they run tests or was it just a routine test? Also I don't recognize your doctors are they here in town?

Also I am sorry to hear your cancer is back with a vengeance. I hope you recover quickly. Good luck with the chemo and radiation. I know you have lots of problems with your insuline too. I hope you don't have to much chemo to do.

Hi Rochelle,
My numbers were NORMAL!!!!! I just had blood work done Aug 30th. I know another sister whose cancer #'S show NORMAL and her breast cancer has been in the bones for a year now!!!!! Not to scare you, but that's a scary fact!!!
I would have been oblivious to all this cancer except that my back was hurting so much. It felt just like it did previously in 2002 when the pain radiated down my leg. I had a dr check it and then got a recommendation to see the back dr. (Mark Merrell - who doesn't do backs anymore, by the way) That doctor did an x-ray - said I could do an MRI or do physical therapy. I chose an MRI and he saw that not only was it a bulging disc, it was cancerous. So, he recommended right away that I do an all-bone scan which is when they found it was everywhere.
Dr. Chenal and Weeks left CBHO and now in their place is Dr. Haque and DR. Klarnet. I saw Dr. Klarnet last Thursday and he kept everybody hopping! I was in for blood tests 5 minutes later and radiation 10 minutes after that. I had them doing MRI's on my back that night and Dr. Fewel called me in the morning. SO, SO, SO glad that the doc got things moving so quickly!!!!!!!! (Dr. O'Grady who did surgery said I'd have been paralyzed in another month!)

I am glad you had a good doctor that hopped on things right away. Do you like the new docs. They sound like they are good. It sounds like you are being well taken care of. Lots of blessing happening in your life. That is nice to hear.

I'm happy with the doctors. I liked them before, too. God blesses us in amazing ways!
